Reiki
Reiki is an alternate healing system which works not only on physical level, but also on mental, emotional and spiritual levels. Rei means universal and Ki means life force energy. Same energy is called as Prana in India, Chi in China and Ki in Japan. The Prana energy which is regulated in „Prananama‟ through breathing technique is the same energy which is regulated through hands in Reiki. The healing technique was originated in India by Lord Buddha in the form of various sutras. He was seen performing various types of healings on various occasions. But after Buddha it was forgotten for thousands of years until Dr. Makao Usui from Japan re-discovered it in the end of 19th century. He responded to a challenge from his university students by undertaking an extensive study of the healing phenomena of history‟s greatest spiritual leaders. Through travel, study, research and meditation, he evolved a healing system based on ancient Buddhist teachings written in Sanskrit. He spent the rest of his life practicing and teaching this method of natural healing, which involved attunement to the energy, and the laying on of hands.
Reiki Principles
There are five Reiki Principles which are to be practiced daily like a prayer in the morning. They are as follows:-
- Just for today I will not get angry
- Just for today I will not worry
- Just for today I will be humble to every fellow human being, animals and plants.
- Just for today I will do my work honestly
- Just for today I will thank for every small blessings in my life and be in attitude of gratitude throughout day
HOW DOES REIKI WORK?
Here is an extract from the manual (of Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai), that Mikao Usui founder) gave his students:
"…I've never been given this method by anybody nor studied to get psychic power to heal. I accidentally realized that I have received healing power when I felt the air in mysterious ways during fasting. So I have a hard time explaining exactly what it is even though I am the founder. Scholars and men of intelligence have been studying this phenomenon but modern science cannot solve it. But I believe that day will come naturally…".
And the day has come. Quantum Physics says that everything in this world whether living or non-living, is made up of atom. If we break any substance whether a stone or a small fragrant of skin of human being into a very finite state which can only be seen by a strong microscope then we will find atom. If we further break down atom then we get electron, proton and neutron and if we further break them down what we get is only energy. That is true for anything that exists in this universe. Therefore, according to Quantum Physics everything is made of energy and also there is a source energy exists which they term as universe. As Reiki is an universal life force energy which gives life to every living beings, it communicates with the energy of others in a subtle but divine way. Reiki is the energy which enters our body through our crown chakra, flows throughout our body through „nadis‟ and leaves the body through soles of the feet. This is a continuous supply of energy which we receive from the universe.
